Agreement Reached Between CCU and LA County

To those that were not present at tonight's meeting on 5-2-19, the latest and greatest news in regards to our "Fringe Benefit" package is the County Coalition of Unions (CCU) and the County have reached a final agreement.  AFSCME members at the benefits negotiation meetings fought long and hard for a fair deal that would be comparable to that given to SEIU members.  Big thanks to Robert Leonard and all those present at the benefits negotiations for pushing forward and not settling for the lowball and unfair offers made by the County for the past 6 months.  Our fringe package is as follows,

  • $500 Bonus (One time payout)
  • 8 Hours of Leave in the form of "Holiday Time" that will be bankable (One time implementation)
  • 1.5% increase in County Contribution for premiums effective July 1, 2019
  • 2.0% increase in County Contribution to occur Nov 1, 2019 instead of Jan 1, 2020Cap on cash back of $325 effective Jan 1, 2020
  • 2.5% increase in County Contribution on Jan 1, 2021Cap on cash back of $244 effective Jan 1, 2021
  • 1.0% Raise effective Jan 1, 2020
  • 2.75% half step added to salary grid as a top step effective on Jan 1, 2021

If there are any questions or concerns please come to the next meeting so that it can be addressed and explained.  To our members please do not have the mindset of "this is not the same as what SEIU got" or "only look at the $1000 bonus" as your main point of contention because the agreement that the CCU reached with the County is "comparable".  Please come to the next general membership meeting and we can better explain the fringe package.
