About Us

We are AFSCME Local 2076

AFSCME Local 2076 represents more than 1,600 dedicated public servants for the County of Orange. As Eligibility Workers, we lift up communities by determining eligibility for public assistance programs such as Medi-Cal, CalFresh and CalWORKs.

For those who do qualify for assistance, we provide a critical protective shield and guide them to nutritional, medical and/or ancillary resources. The Eligibility Worker is also dedicated to motivating community members to return to self-sufficiency.

Who We Assist

Orange County Eligibility Workers have traditionally assisted some of the most vulnerable of our residents, including its senior citizens, disabled, and children. However, in these tough economic times, we are increasingly also providing assistance and guidance to people who used to be gainfully employed but now find themselves for the first time applying for public assistance – a notion that they had never before dreamed of.

Today it is not usual to meet applicants including attorneys and other professionals, military veterans, and business owners who are living out of their cars, or forced to make a decision between putting food on the table for their families and paying to keep a roof over their heads.

The services that the Eligibility Worker provides have never been more important. AFSCME Local 2076 is proud to help make our community thrive.

We are eligibility workers that are proudly committed to public service, we never quit.

We are AFSCME, join us.
