2019 Women’s Leadership Academy Online

We are excited to announce the 2019 Women's Leadership Academy Online. The Women's Leadership Academy Online (WLAO) is designed to train AFSCME women to create change and be leaders in their community.

This online leadership academy will consist of four different sessions aimed at giving women the skills and support they need so they are better prepared to stand tall for workers' rights and increase political and workplace power on a larger scale. It will provide a deeper understanding of the issues that affect working women, strengthen leadership skills and activism and motivate AFSCME Women to aspire to be leaders in our workplace and local unions.

In each session you will engage in discussion, view master classes, and complete online activities with other AFSCME women. The topics will include: Inclusive Leadership, Political Activism as Leadership, Leadership in the Workplace, and Women Leaders in AFSCME. When you complete all four sessions, you will receive a certificate of completion. Below are requirements for participation in the Academy.

Requirements

  • Participate in four 30-45 minute Facebook Live sessions or webinars, which will be conducted once a month from October to December
  • Complete a short quiz/evaluation after each session
  • Complete an action related to the monthly theme that seeks to strengthen your skills in union activism

Click here to register today and join the AFSCME Women Facebook page to be part of the Academy.

We hope you will take advantage of the powerful opportunity to help build your leadership skills and strengthen the community of AFSCME women.
