Fire Mechanics serving in the line of duty have exposure to the same carcinogens/toxins as Fire Fighters, yet do not have the same legal protections. Time to end the double standard!

AFSCME, representing Fire Dept. Mechanics for LA County, is spearheading a state bill, AB 1400, to protect ALL Fire Dept. personnel prone to occupational cancer. The legislation already passed smoothly through the Assembly, but now we need to pass it through the Senate and then make it law! Join a growing coalition of supporters, including Labor, the American Cancer Society, Firefighters, and others at the next informational meeting!

Just last month, another mechanic and union brother tragically passed away after getting occupational cancer
