What to do, if you are called into a meeting with management?

If you are called into a meeting with management, you have the right to request union representation, should you believe discipline might result. You must make this request. Management is not obligated to tell you about your Weingarten Rights. You can make the request before or during the meeting, saying something that conveys the following message:

If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer, or steward be present at this meeting. Without representation present, I choose not to participate in this discussion.

If management denies your Weingarten Rights, the discipline may be invalid because you weren't allowed representation.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
