Marciano Art Foundation and AFSCME District Council 36 reach agreement regarding severance for laid off workers

LOS ANGELES, CA – Owners of the Maurice and Paul Marciano Art Foundation and representatives of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) District Council 36 have reached an agreement to end litigation initiated by AFSCME and a former employee following the museum's closure last November.

Under their agreement, the museum will provide about 10 weeks of severance pay to each of the 70 visitor service associates who were laid off when the museum closed.

Both organizations are pleased to have reached this agreement after several months of negotiations. The museum's owners are fully supportive of museum workers’ efforts to, through AFSCME District Council 36 or other labor organizations, improve working conditions and wages in the museum industry.
