Council 36 members attend Local Officer training

On Saturday, June 11, more than 60 Local officers and trustees representing more than 22 Local Unions traveled to our Union headquarters in Vernon, CA to attend a Local Officers training, hosted by District Council 36 with the support of AFSCME International's Training & Education Department.

The Local Officers training provides the skills and knowledge new and returning officers and trustees need to lead strong, successful Local Unions. The topics discussed included officer roles and responsibilities, enhancing teamwork, how to assess your Local, develop goals to strengthen it, and how to conduct effective Union meetings.

We appreciate the Local Officers and the staff that were in attendance. Everyone left with renewed motivation and excitement to make the Union even better. If you did not get an opportunity to attend the training, don’t worry; Council 36 and AFSCME International host educational trainings all year round for leaders to learn new skills and develop creative tools to better their workplace and move their Union forward.
