AFSCME District Council 36 held a special convention on August 16, 2024, to adopt an amendment to Article 3, Section 2 of the Council 36 constitution. The amendment proposed to increase the council’s monthly per capita tax paid per member per month to the following rates: $33.85 for full time members who work more than 20 hours per week; $25.40 for part-time members who work 13 to 20 hours per week and $16.95 for less than part-time members who work 12 hours or less per week. The amendment was adopted by more than 2/3 vote of the registered delegates to the special convention.
I want to say thank you to the delegates. Their active engagement and dedication to this process, as well as the debate and discussion at the convention, is greatly appreciated. This decision will strengthen our Council and the resources we provide to service our members throughout southern California.
The amendment has been approved by the International President and the new rates will take effect October 1, 2024.
