*UPDATE* Los Angeles City Locals Reach TA

UPDATE: The AFSCME LA City Locals have voted 'yes' to ratifying the cash payout agreement.

AFSCME Locals 741, 901, 2006, 2626, 3090, and 3672, along with the LA City Coalition of Unions, have reached a tentative agreement regarding cash payouts. Full-time and civil service half-time employees will receive a 4.77 percent payout. Half-time employees and intermittent part-time employees will receive a flat $1,000 payout.

The real cash amount that you lost from delaying the two raises of 2 percent each from 2021 to 2022 equals 4.77 percent of your annual pay. If ratified, the tentative agreement means that you will receive a one-time bonus distributed in two payments only. One half of that cash out will be on your paycheck on May 4, 2022 and the other half on your paycheck on November 16, 2022.

You can calculate the extra amount you will be paid by taking your hourly pay for the payroll period ending April 23, 2022, then multiplying that by the 2,080 working hours in a year, then multiplying that amount by 4.77 percent to arrive at the amount you will be receiving. Divide that total by two to get the amount for the May 4 pay check and again in the November 16 pay check.

For example: If your hourly rate for the pay period ending April 23th is $40.00 per hour, use this formula to figure out the cash you will get on the May 4 and the November 16 pay checks:
    $40 X 2,080 = $83,520 X 0.0477 = $3,983.90 divided by 2 = $1,991.95
So a $40 per hour wage rate on your April 23rd pay period will get you $1,991.95 pay out        on your May 4th pay check and another $1,991.95 on your November 16th pay check.

This cash payout is in addition to the two raises of 2 percent each that you will receive starting in the pay period beginning June 19, 2022, so this year you will get a 4 percent increase in your base salary PLUS 4.77 percent in cash.

(Exempt half-time employees and intermittent part-time employees will get a flat $1,000 with half paid out on May 4 and the other half paid out on November 16 instead of the 4.77 percent discussed above.

There will be a vote to ratify or reject this tentative agreement. There will be two ways to vote, in person at the Council 36 headquarters from April 12 until close of business on April 14 or online. The Council 36 headquarters is located at 3375 E Slauson Ave. Vernon, CA 90058.

The online voting form to ratify the tentative agreement will be live from April 13 at noon until April 18 at 6PM. Ballots will then be verified to ensure only members in good standing are included in the final tally. You MUST be a member in good standing before voting.
