Understaffing has negatively affected millions of workers across the country.

This week, members of AFSCME Local 127 ratified a historic three-year contract with the City of San Diego, making it one of the biggest union contracts in California history.

Members of AFSCME Local 3947 have taken a vote of no confidence in Compton City Manager Thomas Thomas.

The California legislature has provided California employees with additional paid sick leave benefits to combat the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The California legislature passed SB 95 on Thursday, 19 March 2021, and Governor Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law just one day later, on Friday, 20 March 2021. SB 95 provides supplemental sick leave benefits to certain employees needing to take leave for various reasons prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine has been happening for months across the country, and Union members have been a major part of the process.

We knew it was going to take a large number of people to help vaccinate millions of people in a short span of time and AFSCME members have stepped up to do just that. In Anaheim, Calif. AFSCME Local 2002 members began volunteering at the vaccination site at Disneyland in January and at the Anaheim Convention Center in February.

After a very long fight, Local 800 has finally settled two contracts with JVS SoCal, formerly known as Jewish Vocational Service.
