New Council 36 Executive Director Named

A message from Pres. Andy Jung:

We are excited to share some big news with you all and encourage you to share this announcement with all of your AFSCME brothers and sisters.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, the District Council 36 Executive Board voted to appoint Cliff Kerce to the position of Executive Director.  Cliff was promoted from his position as a Business Representative at Council 36.

A third-generation labor activist, Cliff has served in a variety of union roles across the country for the past 20 years. His experience representing workers includes with the Carpenters Industrial Council, with Nurses in the Northeast, School Bus Drivers and Municipal Employees in the Southeast, and workers at some of the largest timber mills in both the Pacific Northwest and Deep South (Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.)

Cliff recently joined the staff of Council 36 as a Business Representative, representing Los Angeles County employees in the largest Public Defender Department in the nation, LA County Physician Assistants, LA County Agricultural Inspectors, LA County Supervising Child Support Officers, and Automotive & Equipment Maintenance & Repair mechanics.

Cliff believes strongly in giving back to the community through volunteerism. He also has dedicated much of his free time to supporting state and federal political campaigns in which he has met some of the country’s most influential elected leaders, including former Presidents and First Ladies.

Please join me in welcoming Cliff (seen to the right in this photo) to his new role. I am confident that he will further the objectives and goals of our union. Please introduce yourself if you have not met him.

In solidarity,

AFSCME District Council 36 Pres. Andy Jung
