Cory began his career in labor after transitioning away from working as a nurse. He says he was “already agitated” by then, as he was “noticing the healthcare system in California becoming more profit-driven.” He recalls, “I was eager to be a part of the Union change.” Over the last 17 years, he has served a wide spectrum of labor roles – from external organizer for SEIU Local 399, where he participated in market NLRB campaigns like Tenet Health System and PERB campaigns at district hospitals, to his current position at AFSCME District Council 36, where he represents various Orange County-based Locals.
