Glendora, Fresh From a 98% Ratification, Sets Sights on Saving Services

In a milestone for Glendora Employees in AFSCME Local 3915, they just settled their first union contract and ratified it by a whopping 98%. The Local joined AFSCME in the last two years and have been fighting for improved working conditions and the preservation of municipal services.

"This is a major victory, and for us - historic," said the Local's President, Harutyun Mesropyan.  "It was a tough battle to reach agreement. But  as they say, there is no rest for the weary. We've already turned our attention now to partnering with the City to pass a vital inititiative, Measure E, on Glendora's ballot in the springtime."

Measure E, were it to be approved by voters, would raise new revenues for the City's general fund to sustain the flow of quality public services to residents as well as protect the good middle class jobs of the Local's members.

Council 36 is asking AFSCME members from among our 60 locals to support their Measure E campaign effort by participating in Get Out The Vote (GOTV) actions. The next scheduled GOTV date is March 2nd, in which Council 36 staff will provide empowerment training to volunteers before they head out to knock on doors.
