Volunteer Member Organizers do vital work for unions and we wanted to celebrate all of our Council 36 VMOs with a VMO Appreciation Day.

After refusing to settle for less than they deserve, AFSCME Local 1895 members secure a fair contract with the City of Lawndale.

On Saturday, April 13, AFSCME District Council 36 held an amazing new steward training with more than 50 members from over a dozen different locals unions.

On behalf of President Jung:

Effective immediately, all Council 36 Staff Union employees are authorized to work from home if able.  This is a temporary work from home authorization that the Executive Board will re-evaluate as the crisis evolves.  This directive is not precedent setting and only temporary.  All Field staff will return to their place of work (respective offices and the “field”) once these provisions end.

GET OUT THE VOTE WEEKEND IS UPON US! We have a few events that we would love for you all to attend. These are very close races in which our activism can MAKE OR BREAK the election. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This past weekend Council 36 had the pleasure of attending the CA PEOPLE Convention in Sacramento. Two of our members had the opportunity to experience it for the first time.

Thank you to everyone who put this wonderful event together. We'll see you again soon!

Are you interested in attending the 2020 Democratic National Convention or Republican National Convention?  AFSCME can help you run for delegate!

In July, the Democratic Party will gather in Milwaukee to choose a presidential candidate and you could be there!  Delegates to the convention come from every corner of the country and 494 delegates will be elected to represent California.  AFSCME will be training members on the delegate selection process, and providing tips and insights on how to maximize your chance to become a delegate.

If you are a Local President, don't forget to attend the upcoming meeting on February 8, 2020!

Before heading to the Califonia PEOPLE Conference in Sacramento, Calif., Council 36 made a pit stop in Oakland, Calif.

Based on recommendations of our member-driven Political and Legislative Action Committee (PLAC), AFSCME District Council 36 has made endorsements for the upcoming election.

Make sure that you are prepared for this very important election year by attending our Voter Registration Drive.
