Volunteer Member Organizers do vital work for unions and we wanted to celebrate all of our Council 36 VMOs with a VMO Appreciation Day.

After refusing to settle for less than they deserve, AFSCME Local 1895 members secure a fair contract with the City of Lawndale.

On Saturday, April 13, AFSCME District Council 36 held an amazing new steward training with more than 50 members from over a dozen different locals unions.

UPDATE: The AFSCME LA City Locals have voted 'yes' to ratifying the cash payout agreement.

AFSCME Locals 741, 901, 2006, 2626, 3090, and 3672, along with the LA City Coalition of Unions, have reached a tentative agreement regarding cash payouts. Full-time and civil service half-time employees will receive a 4.77 percent payout. Half-time employees and intermittent part-time employees will receive a flat $1,000 payout.

AFSCME Local 2002 members have ratified their first collective bargaining agreement with the City of Anaheim.

After successfully organizing three bargaining units, the confidential Unit, the general management unit and the professional/technical unit, an interim leadership team and bargaining committee got to work, and both sides signed ground rules by the City and AFSCME District Council 36 in October 2018.

Six months ago, AFSCME Local 619 in the City of Cerritos began negotiating a new union contract. As many local unions have experienced, negotiating during the COVID-19 pandemic has been even more difficult than before. However, this time, negotiations were different than they have been before, and the Local 619 bargaining team was able to negotiate a new contract with major wins.
